Biography

Creative leader and Senior Graphic Designer with 13+ years of experience shaping brand, leading design for executive audiences, and developing other designers. I'm driven by a passion for blending fine art and design to create impactful visual solutions, and my background as a former design instructor shapes how I work: clear expectations, constructive critique, and room for people to grow.

At Oak Ridge National Laboratory, I've been a Senior Graphic Designer since January 2022, serving as the branding expert for the offices and directorates I support through Executive and Internal Communications, including the Offices of Research Education, Integrated Performance Management, and Strategic Planning, and the Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality Directorate (Human and Organizational Performance as well as Safety and Operations). Partnering with their communication leads, I recommend and deliver visual solutions that turn complex technical and strategic content into clear, accessible, brand-aligned communication, from executive presentations and recruitment materials to data visualizations and environmental graphics.

Before ORNL, I spent more than four years as Senior Graphic Designer at True Temper Sports, leading art direction and creative development for product graphics, logos, and advertising campaigns across five divisions (Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Apparel) in partnership with division directors, engineers, and sales, marketing, and social media teams. I designed the logo and graphics for the Catalyst 9X, the first stick in True Hockey's flagship True Catalyst series, which became one of the brand's most popular stick lines, and I directed freelance contractors and worked with production vendors.

Earlier in my career, I was hired as Art Director at Filter-Mart and FilterFab specifically to refresh the brand identity of both companies, partnering directly with the CEO and company owner. That followed early roles at MediaWorks, Identity Group, and The Clever Factory, where I worked on pre-press production, healthcare wayfinding signage, and consumer products and packaging.

I earned my MFA in Graphic Design from the University of Memphis in 2019, with a thesis on propaganda in advertising. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant and later an Adjunct Graphic Design Professor, I independently taught Computer Assisted Graphic Design and helped evaluate portfolios for the program's Candidacy Review. My undergraduate degree is from Austin Peay State University, which honored me as a 2026 Art + Design Distinguished Alumnus. I care about brand consistency, accessibility, and the thoughtful use of generative AI, hold certifications in prompt engineering, inclusive imagery, and Crucial Conversations, and have received ORNL Spotlight Awards for Teamwork and Service.
