CHAD MALONE

Biography

As both a professional graphic designer and digital illustrator, I am passionate about opportunities that encourage combining these skill sets whenever possible. My rich background with 9+ years of industry experience, along with my experience as a graphic design instructor, prepares and inspires me to tackle any new project.

In my current position, my role on the Central Graphics Team at Oak Ridge National Laboratory provides me an opportunity to work with virtually every science and facility directorate reporting to the Department of Energy at ORNL's main campus. My duties include consulting with and providing excellent design service for any individual or directorate at the lab in need of graphics. From science-centered diagrams and illustrations, to displays, signage, and event campaigns, I lend my design skills to a wide variety of science, research, and lab-driven efforts.

I graduated from the University of Memphis in 2019 with an MFA in Graphic Design. My BFA was obtained from Austin Peay State University in 2013. While enrolled at the UofM as a Graduate Assistant Professor, I instructed the Computer Assisted Graphic Design course for 4 semesters and aided in assisting entry level graphic design courses as well as a 3000 level motion graphics course.

While at True Temper Sports, I benefited from the sense of creativity for which the company strives. My employers relyed on my strong interest in logo design and product cosmetics development, as well as my knack for maintaining a cohesive scope that stays on-brand through a wide variety of diverse graphic needs for multiple BUs within the company.

As the Graphic Designer for the Marketing Department at True Temper Sports, my position required me to meet the graphic needs of all divisions within the company (Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Apparel) which allowed my workload to be very diverse. My duties involved creating marketing assets and campaigns, printed advertisements, social media ads, web ads, logo design, product graphics and cosmetics, product photography, apparel design, packaging, internal documents, video editing, motion graphics, and a wide variety of other diversified forms of media.

I also have experience as an Adjunct Graphic Design Professor for the University of Memphis, where I instructed the Computer Assisted Graphic Design course as well as occasional 2000 and 3000 level courses.
